Hudson-Odoi ruled out for season after surgery in blow to Nottingham Forest
The 25-year-old winger has been an important figure for Forest this season, contributing six goals and four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. His campaign was cut short after he picked up the injury during last Thursday's Europa League quarter-final second leg win over Porto, a match that had otherwise added to what has been one of the club's most memorable seasons in recent years.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Forest confirmed the nature of the problem and the next stage of Hudson-Odoi's recovery.
"Nottingham Forest can confirm that Callum Hudson-Odoi has sustained an injury to his right quadriceps," the club said. "Following specialist consultation, the winger underwent surgery today and will begin his rehabilitation with our medical team immediately."
"Callum is expected to return to full training during pre-season, and everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery."
The news is tough for Forest, not only because of Hudson-Odoi's attacking output, but also because of the timing. With just five Premier League matches left, Forest is still not safe. They currently sit 16th on 36 points, five above 18th-placed Tottenham, meaning the margin remains uncomfortable enough that every remaining league game still carries major importance.
Losing a player who can bring pace, directness , and experience in wide areas is therefore far from ideal.

At the same time, Forest is also preparing for one of the biggest European occasions in the club's modern era. They face Sunderland on Friday in the league before hosting Aston Villa in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on April 30. That means Nuno Espirito Santo must now navigate a crucial stretch of the season without one of his most reliable attacking outlets.
Hudson-Odoi may not have posted truly elite numbers, but his role has been bigger than the raw statistics alone suggest. He has often given Forest width, helped stretch deep defenses, and offered moments of quality in matches where margins are fine. In a team that has had to scrap for everything, that sort of contribution matters.
For the player himself, it is also a frustrating end to a season that had offered signs of renewed momentum. After difficult periods earlier in his career, Hudson-Odoi had become a regular part of Forest's setup and was playing consistent football again. To lose the final weeks, especially with so much still to play for, is a cruel interruption.
The hope now is that surgery has addressed the issue cleanly and that he can return fully fit in pre-season. Forest's statement suggests there is confidence in that timeline, which at least offers some reassurance beyond the immediate disappointment.

For now, though, Forest must move forward without him. And at this point in the season, that is no small loss.
